Jomon has captured on lens the feel of the era and the human infallibility.Īs with being visually stunning, the dialogues are crisp. Lena as Prithviraj's mother and Sai Kumar as his father has given a great performance. Paravathy has also put in an amazing performance. it is sure that he would rake in the awards for this portrayal. His finesse in handing the complex Moideen is brilliant.
This is not the first time that Prithviraj is essaying a period role. This this sense, 'Ennu Ninte Moideen is a well rounded movie. While, this is not a single track narration, we have socially relevant questions being raised, the politics discussed and culture showcased. When their love comes out in the open, all hell breaks loose. Adding to their woeful relationship is his budding love for Kanchanamala, who is a Hindu. Theirs is an ancient orthodox Muslim family. They are at constant war against each other. He has socialist and leftist tendencies which is very much against the staunch Congress ideology of his father. Built on this is the political and cultural scenario of the Calicut (not Kozhikode) of the 60s.īP Moideen is an intense youth whose ideology is reflected in his life too. This realism sets the tone for the narrative. There is so much detailing in the movie - be it the period setting, the costumes, the backdrop settings including houses, street, people, even the mirror and bed. From the word go, the story is gripping and intriguing. Yet the intensity of the events that unfolds, with two orthodox Muslim and Hindu family, so defined by their religion, takes the blandness out of the narrative. This real life tale's reel adaptation is realistic without the kind of melodrama that one associates with loves stories. The way the movie has been conceived makes one want to applaud RS Vimal, the movie's director and writer. In fact it is said that this film is big but still it doesn't have the scale of the real Moideen's life.Life in all its glorious complexities, a love that challenges perceptions and of course endless rain - 'Ennu Ninte Moideen', without going over the top has etched out a beautiful tale of all emotions that humans are capable of. Of course some of those events have been dramatized but nothing has been created.
A pithy, well-acted and remarkably crafted film, this devastating narrative of love, comes across as a true celebration of the tender, expectant spirit that lies deep within it. I would say that whatever that is shown in the film has actually happened. 'Ennu Ninte Moideen' is a slow-burner that invites its viewers to soak themselves in a compelling romantic tale that is prudently drawn from real life. How true to the real story are the events shown in the film? He was a crowd-puller in the sense that he could go to Mukkam junction with a microphone and could attract an impressive number of people, any time. To some he was a friend, to others he was a brother and he was a son to many but he was also a hero for everyone. The challenge with respect to Moideen is that if you talk to fifty people about Moideen, you get fifty different versions of him, which tells you that he was a different person for different people. Then there are his friends and his brother.
Kanchanedathi (Kanchanamala) is here among us too. The main aspect here is that there are still many who personally knew Moideen.
